Classic Pin-Up

Tips for a successful Session

Pin-Up is for Women of all Shapes and Sizes – and Ages, too.

The process of having a Pin-Up portrait created is quite simple. It usually takes a few weeks from the first phone call until you have your polished portraits in your hand. On this page you’ll find the process we’ll go through to create your Pin-Up portraits.

  1. Call and setup a consultation (509.688.7960). During this consultation, I’ll find out what type of pin-up portraits you like. We’ll also discuss hair, make-up clothing, props, locations, and all the other details needed to make your portrait day amazing. We’ll discuss what you want to see in your portraits, and what you don’t want to see. It is a great time to bring any inspiration photographs you have, as well as any props or pieces of clothing you are considering.

  2. Start Finding the props and clothing we talked about. This may include clothing you already have; it might also include a little shopping trip to get the perfect accessories. You decide from authentic 50s dress to sexy outfit. You can also bring as many as you like – and we can look at them together.

  3. Get your hair and make-up done. Hair and make-up are important components to creating the perfect pin-up portrait. We recommend having a professional hair and make-up artist complete this look for you. Recommendations for these can be found on our tips. Hair and make-up should be done on the day of the shoot.

  4. We do your actual shoot. This is where we get the camera out and start creating the pin-up portraits we planned out. The images can be as traditional or as contemporary as you like. The clothing is entirely up to you: from fun dresses to themed outfits to nothing at all.

We look at the pictures! On another day after the shoot (and after I’ve had time to sort through them – selecting the very best ones), we’ll sit down together and go through the images. We can fulfill any packages you have or create other fun and new products – like books, cards, and calendars.

It is a very fun experience. We aren’t your typical portrait studio – so you don’t have to worry about stiff rules and awkward times. The entire process is about you! If you need a glass of wine (or tequila) before we begin – or want to try an idea you’ve had for years – we can do it. Our goal is to make it a relaxed fun time – and it’ll show in your pin-up photos.
